There was another pic of the fatal accident of Michael Whitehead, slightly different from the existing one:

This case is still not on mmorg.

I don't assume we have submitted this one, yet?

Additional into re: Whitehead.

Not much to add to this one, but there's nothing in the notes:

Gives age of victims (different spelling of one surname), and circumstances of accident. They crashed 200 metres down a ravine. They don't even fall that far off of K2. Pretty horrible. I'll send this to Nanni for whatever it's worth.

Suggestion for LWF-inclusion, where similar cases are listed:

Fatal helicopter-accident in 1984 at Ahvenisto (SF), which happened during the running of an MC race. Mentioned here, also:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahvenisto_Race_Circuit
In May 1984, what remains today the most severe helicopter accident in the history of Finland occurred at the track during a race. The pilot lost control of his helicopter while landing and crashed into an audience area, resulting in five spectators dead and 26 injured.[4]

Link in footnote unfortunately dead.

Video:

Details:

Date of accident May 6, 1984.

4 or 5 people killed, 2 women, one man, one boy (9yo), and one unknown. Possibly, one victim died later from burns.

Pilot (who survived) lost control whilst landing, due to gust of wind. Apparently, after or at the end of some sort of display, held simultaneously with race.

Race called off after accident, rest of event cancelled.

Location: Hämeenlinna or Tavastehus (Swedish name), Finland.

This accident remains the worst involving a helicopter, in the history of Finnish aviation.

My newspaper source: Danish newspaper Aarhuus* Stiftstidende, May 7, 1984 pp. 1-2.

---

* = Not a typo, Århus was spelled Aarhuus, in the old-fashioned way.
Was already in there, the related case section is also subdivided.

It does not alter in the least the moral obligation of the person ultimately in charge of this site to ensure its stability.

PTRACER, is there a way to secure this entire database, as you did formula2.net?

Sadly not.

Shouldn't we ask him to give us the whole database?
We could "incorporate" Motorsportmemorial.org to The-Fastlane, should it go off-line forever.

It's copy & paste then?

It's crucial we a dialogue with Sal over this, the sooner the better. I'll formulate something soon.

Meanwhile, Michael Whitehead's crash at Mallory Park has been added:

Yes. I'm afraid with everything going on in my life currently, I wouldn't have time to get involved with it myself. If Sal wants to hand over the database and website files I will host them, but beyond that...

Fair enough, the main thing is he doesn't let it slip away, and I don't imagine he will, but things untoward may happen to the best of us, and there probably is no back-up of this. We need direct communication with Sal. I'll set up something.

The Danish fatal rallysprint accident yesterday has been submitted by me, via private mail, as I now get a 403-error when submitting cases via the research form!

Will gather all visual media and post in relevant topic.
