Bottom post of the previous page:

According to the blog, he died:
Enzo Hugo Segade, “el gordo” como lo conocían en Salto, pagó el precio mas caro que se puede pagar por ésta increíble pasión que es el automovilismo, pagó con su vida
More or less:
"Enzo Hugo Segade, "el gordo" as he was known in Salto, paid the highest possible price for this incredible passion called Auto Racing, he paid with his life".

Surely before 17/10/1980, since this newspaper was printed on 17/10/1980:

The article on that blog says 12/10/1980 (maybe that's the event date).

Yes, and event and death date may of course also be different.

But how did he manage to race on the 19th? http://tc-zonal.blogspot.dk/2011/07/19- ... e1980.html

"Cupé Roja y Azul", vehicle brand. Maybe just the nickname of the car, to do with the colours, but then it shouldn't be in capital letters. In any case, it's added.

I've updated all I seem to be able to understand from the article, and I'll send it to them, tomorrow evening.

Leaves a little time to make further additions.

When I've heard from them again, I'll try and explain to them what we can do about their search function.

He says:

"La prueba de clasificación de Pergamino,de mi archivo personal,(la fecha es errónea)no habia maquinas de escribir, mucho menos computadoras."

"The qualifying session of Pergamino, from my personal archive, (the date is wrong) there weren't typewriters, far less computers."

Right, well, off it goes. I'll get on their nerves, so we can fix that search function.

That was fast. Good old Nanni Dietrich...

"Keep on the good work".

Hehe, well, I'll try and get him and Sal to see the need to address the enervating and constant problem with the search function.

I'll go straight to the head of the serpent, I have his email.

BTW, I took the liberty of making the topic sticky, as I'm sure we'll be going back here, frequently.

Well. Since you're asking for it

http://www.capebretonpost.com/opinion/c ... 12510.html
Before the Midway, motor racing was held for two seasons in 1953 and 1954 on the infield of the harness racing track at Tartan Downs. According to photojournalist and race historian Ken MacIsaac from Sydney, racing at the horse track was quite popular but didn't last because in 1954, a driver died from his injuries suffered in a crash and the loud noises bothered the horses as they trotted the track. Points champions of the day were Warren Andrews and John Morley.

The narrator mentions a driver who was killed from 2:35. "We lost a man here [...] What the hell was his name? Leslie MacDonald or something?"

The top comment by greg clark below the video confirms the name
The chap who was killed in the mid 1950's was "Droop" MacDonald who raced with my uncle Aubbie Clark of Ashby Corner.

So they raced on some sort of track in the infield, while the horses went round the actual track? That's close to ludricous.
