500 entries, but we really need more helpers

I'm proud to say that we have now surpassed 500 entries

The British crashes project is continuing to evolve and another few dozen entries have been added. I will continue to input these until they are exhausted, and then I will take over the pre-1950 Grand Prix crashes from PLAYLIFE as I'm eager to get it done. DJF is continuing to make excellent progress with the NASCAR side of things and is nearing his 100th entry.

If anyone wants to take on a project, no matter how small, please get in touch. All it involves is searching this forum for posts in Crash Photos and by typing in a year, a driver's name, or a track name. Even if only a small handful of photos are found as a result, it makes ALL the difference.

If Wikipedia is right, only two haven't been found yet. If anything exists.

It's really difficult to find motorcycle fatalities.
Compared to racing cars fatalities, there are really few images here.

Motorsportrace, could you finish off the F1 fatalities before you move on to WRC fatalities? The database is missing F1 testing accidents at the moment. I compiled this list of F1 drivers killed in non-WDC races (including testing). I will do the non-F1 testing ones, so if you can handle the Castellotti and the Depailler etc., I'll do the rest. 'DONE' means they are already in the CPDB thanks to other projects.

Of the Fatal F1 testing accidents, we miss only Bob Anderson - But I doubt we'll find anything, since it was a private test (and we know what the British press used to do).
I wouldn't include Cameron Earl in the testing crashes, since he was driving an ERA just for fun in 1952 at MIRA:

I suppose, in the future, I should include the Non-championship F1 fatalities (F2 in 1952-1953). Of those, we don't have anything about Harry Schell and Shane Summers (but, again, these crashes happened in Great Britain).
I wouldn't include Martin Brain and Jack Smith, since they were driving F1 cars, but competing in a private meeting which had nothing to do with F1.

The event is important, not the driven car.
Else we should include Spencer Flack, Fritz Glatz, Joe Dawson-Damer, ...

And, about the F1 drivers killed in non-WDC races, I think there are many, many more.
But hey, we're all doing what we can.

EDIT: I'll upload Giulio Cabianca's testing crash too, but he wasn't driving an F1 car, and he wasn't looking to compete in the 1961 WDC. I'll mark it as "Formula Intercontinental".

I've tried to check every possible source, but I can't find anything.
I'm sure a photo exists, since I have two of him some seconds before the crash.
The Topfoto photo could be a portrait of the driver, with the usual caption "Harry Schell, an American racing driver, was killed yesterday during...", who knows.

Should I add the Non-championship drivers fatalities?
They should be: Greifzu, De Tornaco, Alborghetti, Schell, Summers, Rodriguez, Hocking, Siffert.
I'm considering F2 fatalities in 1952-1953, since the World Drivers Championship was run under F2 rules those years.
Siffert is already in the database; We don't have anything about Schell and Summers.

Doing a great job so far. Just wondering, are you planning to omit any crashes from the CPDB? There's at least one crash in every single race these days, and I'm not so sure it would be historically significant to record each one...

I suppose it depends on the type of motorsport each contributor is handing. It's easier in my case because stock car races tend to have large car counts, meaning multi-car incidents are more probable to occur than in F1, sports car/endurance racing, rally cars, etc. There's still plenty of major/significant stock car crashes I still need to record before I have to tackle that issue.
