Bottom post of the previous page:

- Made a major revision to the database query. Now when you 'Sort' each field, it's ordered by the name of the Series/Category/Circuit alphabetically and not the order it was entered into the database

- Revised the search function. The dropdown options are now more appropriate to the Search - for example, Fatal: Yes/No used to appear as a textbox which you could type in, unless you clicked the dropdown box and changed it to 'Equals'

Still to do: Put a really good Search guide at the top of the Search page, to tell people the best way to use it.

Right-click now fully disabled throughout the database. This will protect photos against unauthorised saving.

Maybe a water mark would be good too.

I'll see what I can do. I'd rather avoid watermarks tbh. I'm currently trying to disable dragging and dropping of the images into the URL bar as people can still get the links that way.

There's some features I'm also thinking of adding:

1. A 'Tags' or 'Keywords' box, so people can type in things like "Thrown out" and see all photos of a driver being thrown out. Or "Spectators killed", which would show all crashes were spectators died.

2. A Motorsport Memorial style home page, where you select records by year, series, car, name etc. rather than a manual search.

- OR -

3. A homepage that only shows the latest 10 items in the database. Or the latest items inputted this month.

You'll never stop people stealing the photos all the time view source is available from the menu, best to watermark them in some way, that'll stop them.

Or better still if its someone in particular ban their IP from within the control panel.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
If this is the case, you may click here to solve the problem, or alternatively here too.

They can also just come to the forum and find the photos here. All it will do is inconvenience them.

As I said, I'm not against the spread of the photos we found.
It's just not fair to save them, upload to another site without giving us credit and asking to pay for a subscription.

Exactly. This is what we would never do unless we owned the content ourselves. Anyway, people may not be able to save the links directly any more, but they can still copy text by dragging their mouse and clicking Ctrl+C.

Motorsportrace - What do you think about promoting the database? I've completed my F1 driver deaths now so I'm ready for another project. We have 660 crashes uploaded too.

They can also do it with Firebug (press F12). There's always a way to save the content you see on the internet.

Where should we promote it? I've seen you've tried to do it here:
http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=11066
But, as usual, some people were against it.

By the way, there's too much Nascar in it.

Not everyone knows that. We should at least make it clear to users that the images are not meant to be stolen/re-used.

Hahaha...Well we need to get some new stuff uploaded then don't we? :haha: What do you want to work on next mate?

Well, that's right. Although I fear that might be seen as a "challenge" to them, so they would try everything to get the pictures.
At least that's what I usually do... :suspicious:

Good question. I've uploaded the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the F1 fatalities we have. I would've wanted to upload the Le Mans fatalities, but you said that was Jesper's taks.
WRC fatalities maybe? I don't know what else I might work on...

EDIT: Wow, I just noticed I'm an Advanced Member now. Good.

If everything else fails, I screenshot the damn things :haha: It's the only way to get the photos off of Revs anyway!

Jesper's incredibly busy working on real life projects. When he comes back, he will do Legion Ascot, which is a huge project and will take a long time to finish. Do Le Mans fatalities if you're interested in it

Yes, sometimes it's the only way.

Luckily, right now, I have quite some free time, so I can do the Le Mans fatalities.
Marius Mestivier and Pierre Maréchal's accidents are still missing, though.
It's a bit of a shame that every project has something missing here and there.
I guess that's all we can do, though.

No one will care they are missing when you have ALL the others. Name me another place, physical or digital, where you will find a photo/description of EVERY fatal Le Mans crash.

Well, it simply doesn't exist.
And not only about Le Mans, but about anything (F1, Indianapolis, WRC, etc.).

It's just me: I'm never satisfied.

I've just completed the project.
I'm not counting spectators and/or marshals fatalities, but drivers only.
