With NASCAR now changing their series sponsorship model, with sponsors no longer featuring in the series title, Should we merge all NASCAR Cup series crashes under the NASCAR Cup series banner? They plan to do this with all series eventually I believe.
I would be really, really happy if there was one category and it was just called "NASCAR".

Is there not now?
No, they're all split into the title sponsor of the time, Winston, Nextel, Sprint and Monster Energy.

Second division is split into Busch, Nationwide and Xfinity

Truck series is split into Craftsman, Camping World and Gandor Outdoors.

The difficult one will be the pre sponsorship crashes which are stuff like Late Model Sportsman, Grand National etc.
These should be merged, in my opinion, since they are the same series but with a different sponsor. Top level can just be "NASCAR". Not sure what the Nationwide etc. series should be called though...

The second-tier series will be the most difficult. The Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series has been defined by its title sponsor ever since dropping "Grand National" from the title in 1999. And you can't change it to "Grand National" since it would cause confusion with the original Cup Series name prior to 1971, also called "Grand National".

So what can basically be done is:
Top-level series (1971-present) : "NASCAR Cup Series"
Second-tier series (1984-present) : ????? (Keep it as is?)
Truck division : "NASCAR Truck Series"

Yeah that's what I was thinking, once the Xfinity deal is up, hopefully NASCAR apply a different name.

I've always listed the Xfinity as "Grand National" or "Sportsman". However both names could be confusing, especially since the Cup series was known as "Grand National" and there have been quite a few different Sportsman divisions in NASCAR

Mmm, this is a difficult one. Maybe we could do as DJR says then. Change the Top level and Truck Division to the above, but leave the Xfinity etc. as is.

Transition compete.

Winston/Nextel/Sprint/Monster Cup Series ---> NASCAR Cup Series
Craftsman/Camping World/Gander Outdoors Truck Series ---> NASCAR Truck Series

Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity Series will stay as is until further notice. Thanks for all your input fellas.

Did a bit of a clean up in that I deleted all double entries in the Series section (most of which I foolishly added myself)

----------

I don't think there's a difference between "Italian Formula Junior" and "Formula Junior (Italian Series)" or is there? I'd merge these under the same Series, then.

See these two entries:

----------

What's the official name for the Sebring (and similar) race(s)? Sebring 12 Hours? 12 Hours of Sebring (and therefor 4 Hours of Sebring, 3 Hours of Sebring etc.)?

Please follow naming conventions for other series (e.g. Formula 3 (British Series) etc.).

Some races we went with "6 hours of", others "Trackname 6 hours". Maybe "Sebring 12 hours", "Sebring 6 hours" etc. is best.

Hello, I've noticed that some drivers have different versions of their names in the entrys:

Helmut Koinigg
http://www.the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/cras ... qs=Koinigg

Heinrich-Joachim von Morgen
the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/crashphotos_list.php?qs=morgen~Driver

Archie Scott-Brown
http://www.the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/cras ... ?qs=archie

And then this one is also mistaken:
http://www.the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/cras ... itid1=4871
driver should be Len Bastrup, not Lotus Eleven
