What does Alonso have to do to win the title? I know it's essentially just turn up and keep it moving, but specifically what is the requirement?

Alonso has to beat the other Toyota. That's all. Like he did last year, with Sébastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima.

The title will be decided at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and Alonso, Buemi and Nakajima can clinch it by finishing at least seventh.
They take a 31-point lead to the Le Mans 24 Hours with only 39 points left to play for.

RACER's resource guide: https://racer.com/2019/06/11/racers-24- ... rce-guide/

Love this week. Unfortunately, won't be able to catch most of the race because of work. Might sacrifice an hour or two of sleep because of this. :)

Free practice starts very soon! 16:00 Paris time. First qualifying at 22 tonight! Weather seems to be nasty.

Strange lack of pace for the Alonso car in Q1 as it languIshes in 6th place at moment . 3 secs per lap slower for Alonso. No7 car is much faster. 10 mins left in Q1.

But it was car 7 that was the quick one. Car #8 Alonso car did put in a late lap in the session to take it up to 4th, but still 2.4 secs shy of the #7.

The Conway #7 crash. Certainly an odd one.

Surprise for me was the LMP1 SMP car being within 0.4sec of the pacesetting Toyota.

Nothing to do with this years Le Mans series but Toyota Gazoo Racing has confirmed that Brendon Hartley will slot into Fernando Alonso’s seat for the 2019/20 World Endurance Championship season. Hartley’s first race will be at Silverstone at the start of the 2019/20 season, where he will co-drive with Sebastien Buemi and Kamui Kobayashi.

Alonso had already announced that he will not continue to compete in the World Endurance Championship next season.

Having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, he’s already checked off the specific ambition he had when entering the competition. Of course he hopes to complete the WEC Championship win this year to add to his WDC title tally from F1

Instead, the Spaniard has been linked to outings with Toyota in the World Rally Championship.

Of course he also tested a Dakar spec Toyota Hilux earlier this year, sparking suggestions he could compete in that event next year.
