Bottom post of the previous page:

This weekend the season finally starts with the Adelaide 500.

Schedule here:
https://www.supercars.com/2019-superloo ... e-results/

There is an Aussie Racing Cars race on today and tommorow there will be a number of support categories racing (including Super2) before the first race of the main series season on Saturday.

The forecast for the weekend is that it will be very hot on Friday and Saturday with a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius which will make driver cooling a very important issue. Sunday is supposed to see a reprieve with temperatures dropping to 31.

There has been a noticeable change to the track with turn 7 being narrowed considerably by a moving of the outside wall. This is mostly to stop people jumping the curb there and also to slow down the cars heading into turn 8 slightly, but it does mean that there is a lot less room for error there which will probably result in an accident at some point.

Drivers are kicking up about the track changes.... https://www.speedcafe.com/2019/02/28/dr ... k-changes/

Drivers are worried the restrictions will cause more problems than it relieves with reduced margins for error.

In the Super2 series a couple of cars already hit that wall.

Ambrose and Dick Johnson returned to the racetrack earlier to do some laps in a Mustang NASCAR and the Mustang Supercar respectively.

Some thoughts they had:

Ive just seen Matt Chanda show his talents! The most experienced Super 2 driver was pretty much the first in the wall. He looks beyond hope as a driver, looking at today's performance. So much for the new car he has got.

Remember when he was supposed to be the second full-time LDM driver a couple of years back and then CAMS said no?

Yes.... I think that should have been kept in place. The way he went in to the wall was just plotless really.

Getting back to the track changes, the drivers feeling on the changes has now been upgraded from concern to "Drivers predict ‘chaos’ with Turn 7 tyre wall
Drivers expect the changes at Turn 7 on the Adelaide Parklands street circuit to cause ‘chaos’ after getting their first taste of the revised layout during practice on Thursday evening".

And we've had a crash at turn 4 on the first lap of Super2, Randle got turned around and lost his rear wing.

Kurt Kostecki might have been the one who hit him, he's now smacked the wall at 8. SC.

Kostecki banged into Randle and spun him into Goddard (although Zane continued on seemingly unharmed). Kurt then got a blown tire which put him into the wall at 8.

Chahda ran into another car too. Typical.

Macauley Jones had a massive crash in practice, he lost brakes going into turn 9 and spun violently after hitting the wall. He is OK but I'm not sure they will be able to race later.
