The crashed #69 Audi wins the Am class.
Lap before the red rule I guess. How many laps behind the SC before they red flagged it?
I can see a few protests against the results..... Not the podium, but further down the field.

Just noticed another MARC car nearly collected the #69 Audi after it had spun to a stop.

He got lucky there.

Dont go to the 12hr wwebsite for official results.... the results they have posted are wrong.... they show the Manthey car winning, the #55 Strakka car 2nd and the #37 Audi 3rd. Looking closer they have posted the final result based on positions as at lap 253.

I was asleep with headphones in and woke up thinking something had fallen over in the room that crash was so loud lol.

Did I see the Borg on that results list? Was resistance futile?

Martin and Walsh to be transferred to hospital after B12Hr crash


John Martin and Ash Walsh will be transferred to Orange Hospital following their frightening race-ending crash in the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

The pair suffered a crunching impact late in the race, with Martin making heavy contact with Walsh’s stricken Audi R8 LMS at McPhillamy Park.

Walsh’s car sat broadside to the circuit having made contact with the barrier moments before Martin arrived in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 at almost full speed.

Though Martin tried to swerve left to avoid the Audi, he made heavy contact which saw him momentarily lose consciousness.

The pair were taken to the circuit medical centre, with sources confirming to Speedcafe.com that the pair would be transferred to hospital for further checks.

Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia boss Tory Russell and suggested Walsh would be air lifted to Sydney with suspected broken ribs and punctured lung.

Walsh had only recently recovered from an injury sustained during a testing crash at Phillip Island in the week before last year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, which forced him out of the final two legs of the Pirtek Enduro Cup.

The crash initially saw the race suspended, before finally being declared as debris littered the circuit.

With the results rolled back to the last completed lap before the red flag, Walsh won the Am Class with co-drivers Theo Koundouris, James Koundouris, and Duvashen Padayachee.

Martin, Mark Griffth, Liam Talbot, and David Reynolds were classified ninth in the Pro-Am Class.

It followed an earlier incident for Andrew Bagnell which saw the International Motorsports driver taken to Orange Hospital after reporting a sore neck and back.

When contacted by Speedcafe.com, Orange Hospital stated Bagnell was in a stable condition.

The Craft Bamboo Racing Porsche that finished third has subsequently been given a 30 second post race penalty because of a miscalculation of stint times put Laurens Vandoor 2 minutes over the maximum drive time. I did not even realise this although the results posted reflect it.

craftbambooracingThanks to everyone for the support all weekend! Double trouble for us. We had the perfect strategy to cross the line in first place as our last stint was aimed at full fuel save.

We had the fuel to go the the end which would’ve given us the win, until the cars crashed causing the red flag and ending the race prematurely as both the Audi and Merc had to pit for fuel if it had stayed green. We could’ve made it after an awesome fuel save stint by Earl.... After finishing 3rd, we were given a 30sec penalty caused by a glitch from our strategy software, putting us 2 minutes over Laurens drive time, losing our podium in the process and ending up in 5th place. Super disappointing for the team...

Big thanks to the drivers, engineers, and crew for the awesome job all week and over the last 12 hours. Definitely not the way to finish after a faultless race on track to the flag, but it’s how racing goes sometimes... .

Yeah I thought the 'glitch in the strategy software' sounded more like we knew we had miscalculated but thought for the sake of two minutes we would run the gauntlet in the hope no-one would pick it up.

Mate I have never seen so many mobile phones and calculators and lap tops being used in one place as I did in the garages in the final 40 minutes or so of that race as everyone was calculating mileage and fuel use. Im sure no one was thinking of such things as how manyt minutes has driver A/B/C been in the car....
