Shame he (Coronel) got pinged for a jump start in the second race, the resulting DTP dropping him a lap.

Don't know if you've already seen this 3-part documentary about the British touring car scene, but if you haven't - do so! 3x45 minutes of great footage, anecdotes and interviews.

That needs to happen. A World Championship need proper racing cars. And a proper race format. It's not a bad idea to copy DTM in that respect.

WTCC is another world championship that really needs to overhaul it's schedule.

taken from the link above wrote:A potential introduction of Class One to WTCC would mean that the current manufacturers Citroën (although not competing in an official capacity after 2016), Lada and Volvo could be left without eligible cars if TC1 is fully phased out, with Honda’s current Civic also sidelined.
It would be sad that some manufactures have to quit the WTCC. I hope that the WTCC is not becoming an elite group of manufactures, just like the GTE or GTD. Because to be honest: it is the BoP that prevents walk overs from Ford, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

About the schedule: It is the only main world championship that races the Nordschleife.

Yes, and it's brilliant. But what about the other races?

My main beef is that these grand, new, wide circuits aren't made for touring cars. Where's, say, Brands Hatch? That style of circuits.

They should build new cars then.

STCC field of 2017 with just over a month until the first race:

Micke Ohlsson – Audi RS 3 – Brink Motorsport - FULL SEASON
Tobias Brink – Audi RS 3 – Brink Motorsport - FULL SEASON
Marcus Annervi – Honda Civic – Rent A Wreck Racing - FULL SEASON
Albin Wärnelöv – Volkswagen Golf – Lestrup Racing - FULL SEASON
Dennis Strandberg – Volkswagen Golf – Lestrup Racing - Car entered for the full season, Strandberg round 1 only so far
Poker Wallenberg JR – SEAT León – PWR Racing - FULL SEASON
Robert Dahlgren – SEAT León – PWR Racing - FULL SEASON
Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky – Audi RS 3 LMS – PWR Racing - 5 out of 7 rounds, unclear if she will be replaced at the missed rounds
Fredrik Blomstedt – Volkswagen Golf – Kristoffersson Motorsport - FULL SEASON
Johan Kristoffersson – Volkswagen Golf – Kristoffersson Motorsport - Alastaro, Solvalla, Falkenberg, Karlskoga only, car expected at all rounds
Andreas Ahlberg – Volkswagen Golf – Micke Kågered Racing - FULL SEASON
Peter Möller – Volkswagen Golf – Micke Kågered Racing - FULL SEASON
Mattias Andersson – Honda Civic – Team Honda Racing - FULL SEASON
Kari-Pekka Laaksonen – SEAT León – LMS Racing - FULL SEASON
Olli Parhankangas – SEAT León – LMS Racing - FULL SEASON
Antti Buri – Audi RS 3 – LMS Racing - Expected to miss Falkenberg and Mantorp Park
Niko Kankkunen – Audi RS 3 – LMS Racing - Alastaro only, more races might be added
Nicklas Oscarsson – Kia Cee’d – TeamA Teknik - FULL SEASON
TBA – SEAT León – LMS Racing - FULL SEASON(?)
TBA – SEAT León – PWR Racing - FULL SEASON
TBA – Honda Civic – TBA - FULL SEASON(?)

That's at least 17 cars expected for the full season, 20 for most rounds, plus another one at Alastaro.

I'm pleased. Kinda sucks that there are no races, except for Solvalla, that's realistic for me to attend until August.

That looks far more promising than the previous rules set. What rules are STCC using this season?

17 entries for STC is more than the WTCC are getting this year.

Apparently only 15 cars are entered for the opening round at Marrakesh. I think the words "oh dear" are appropriate.
