"Tragedy at Mallala"

#1

Post by hollie3sa »

I remember a video which was on YouTube several years ago about a, afair, fatality that happened at Mallala. It was an extract from a news report that started with the moderator saying "Tragedy at Mallala". I think froum around 2005 - 2009? Maybe?

Don't have any further info. Maybe someone of you remembers what I'm talking about. I'd like to see the video again, please. If anyone has it.

I'm almost certain it happened before 2012.

Not sure if you are looking for a car or bike fatality....

Could it have been Liam Magee, killed in qualifying for an Aus Superbike race in April 2002?

A copy of the coroners report, with all details of the accident can be found here: http://www.courts.sa.gov.au/CoronersFin ... 0Liam.docx

As an aside, a couple of years later 19 year old Liam's Father sued 'the Sport' for damages and cited Mallala for some alterations made
tyre wall was removed and replaced by the concrete wall to provide more space for the grandstand," it says. "On the day of Liam's death the concrete wall had no airfence (or) other form of padding. Had there been any he would probably would have survived."
Im not sure of the outcome of the case.

I'm afraid I don't know either.

It could have been his accident, yes. But frankly, I got no recollection of the video except for the beginning. And I'm very certain it started with the moderator saying these exact words: "Tragedy at Mallala"

I'm sorry that I can't provide any further informations.
