Re: Car Songs

Post by Jesper Hvid » 9 years ago

Latest post of the previous page:

Led Zeppelin: Trampled Under Foot. Full of sexual innuendo, thinly disguised as car terminology.
If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

And on exactly the same subject.

***Some say you should live each day like it was your last... but who wants to live each day in wild panic and extreme death anxiety?

The universe, look at the hugeness of it... it is a dizzying thought that little ol' me is the centre of it all!***

Keel: Speed Demon.

Starting riff partially reused in:

If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

Syd's song about getting jacked off by a chick, whilst driving, and that's my personal interpretation.
If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.

This isn't related to car songs, but it would be interesting to know if there's any other notable bands named after a car.

The Cadillacs - Speedo. 1955 do-wop classic.

Not exactly a song I am posting here, but when I saw the title of the last one , Speeding HQ, I immediately thought of one of our club racing formulae here, based on the late sixties / seventies HQ Holden. (Think of the HQ as an Aussie sort of Vauxhall Victor in terms of market position or category... never intended any where near a racetrack). They have a 3 litre straight 6 with I think a 3 speed box (maybe a 4they use in the racecars?), all with very limited mods, spec brakes, dampers springs etc. Anyway they all behave like they learnt to drive in Greece.

Speeding HQ's here in Aus means something like this.

*Sebastian, Lance is faster than you... do you understand?*

*I married Miss Right. Just didn't know her first name was Always
