Rod Stewart

Are there any Rod Stewart fans out there? I know that he received much criticism for "selling out" and deserting his roots when he moved to America in the mid-1970s. However, I could listen to his voice all day.

The thing about Rod is that he can make even the most mediocre material sound interesting. He is also a wonderful interpreter of other people's songs.

It is common to cite 1969-1972 as Rod's peak period, but in many ways I prefer the mid-to-late 1970s stuff, which was expertly produced by Tom Dowd.

Yes, The Jeff Beck Group laid much of the groundwork for what later became known as hard rock. I think they only made two albums, but were massively influential at the time.

Thanks for those songs strad. My mum got a bunch of Rod Stewart albums lying around.

I don't listen any more but on the back of this thread, perhaps I'll dust off one of his LP's...
The blues isn't about making yourself feel better, it's about making other people feel worse.

Strangely, Rod's voice has become mellower and sweeter as he has got older. This is the reverse of what usually happens with singers.
