I always found it hard to appreciate 1950's-music. It was too happy and trouble-free. For me, music really took off in the 1960's with Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Stones, Beatles (overlooking their early pre-LSD work).

Sorry to rain on your parade. :P

Conway Twitty who they hired to help Elvis on his version...
http://www.stradsplace.com/public_html/ ... Twitty.mp3

Unfortunately, Elvis never recorded "It's Only Make Believe".....however, when Conway Twitty (real name: Harold Loyd Jenkins) recorded, "It's Only Make Believe", people actually thought that it was, in fact, Elvis. Elvis was so good he didn't need any "help", anyway. :) Except, in his last couple of years of touring (1976-1977), backing singer, Shaun Neilsen, would "cover" for Elvis on the high notes and bass singer Larry Strickland, formerly of J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet, would cover Elvis's low notes. As a matter of fact, on the released single of "Unchained Melody", the last four high notes that you hear are Shaun and not Elvis.

Ritchie Valens died with Buddy Holly didn't he? Hard to believe he was younger when he died, than Max Verstappen was on his F1 debut. Incredible talent.

Erwin - Patsy Cline is one of the one female singers I rate. *All the memories of GTA San Andreas flood back*
The ironic thing is that Richie Valens went to Pacoima junior high school in 1957, which was the scene of the wreckage from the Pacoima Mid-air collision between a DC7-B and a F89 Scorpion fighter aircraft. He vowed never to fly after that, but, well, that didn't last, sadly.
