Bottom post of the previous page:

On this day (Dec 1) in 1963 Wendell Scott became the first (and only so far) African American to win a NASCAR Cup race, as the times of those days however, he was originally denied the win, but NASCAR later gave it to him claiming there had been a “scoring error”.

On this day in 1944 Dutch double world champion (1971,1973) on 50cc, Jan de Vries was born. Jan was also runner up to Angel Nieto in 1972 - by a mere 21 seconds since both came even in podium positions, lap times were counted on aggregate
Happy 76th anniversary!

It's hard to imagine Senna being 60 years old. It's also hard to imagine that he only lived till 34 and achieved so much...

On this day in 1993, Reigning NASCAR Cup champion Alan Kulwicki is killed in a light plane crash near Bristol, Tennessee. He was just 38 years of age, and is still to this day the last owner/driver to win a championship. As a tribute the following day, his hauler took a lap of the speedway as it left the track, being shown the chequered flag one last time. His team ran a further 17 races that year with Jimmy Hensley driving for 15 of those, before handing the #7 over to Geoffrey Bodine, a close friend of Kulwicki’s.
