How died a first great Chilean driver in a concentration camp
I expect that the country's leaders were like Hitler and Stalin - a threat to their power and you are put "out of the way"

(Apologies, i study History)
Maybe the Chilean leaders were very bad guys, I don't know, but Juan Zanelli died in FRANCE as the FRENCH Resistance member.

Curt Piercy(ARCA driver) was killed in a plane crash in 2004.

Roy Smith(Winston West driver) I believe was killed in a shipwreck the same year.

Dale Singleton(ARCA driver) was going to go NASCAR Grand National(Sprint Cup) racing late in '85,decided to sell his equipment in May of that year. In the fall,he was killed in a plane crash. Saw two news articles on him in a newspaper database.

Richie Panch(NASCAR) was also killed in a plane crash in 1985.

I will update this list at some point, in the fall, and send everything on to mmorg. I haven't forgotten this.

Not sure if you're interested in bike riders but whatever:

Ondrej Lelek - Czech rider who competed in the German Pro-Superbike Championship in 1997 and 1998, also doing several World Superbike wildcard rides and entering the Le Mans 24 Hours with the first ever all-Czech team. Went on to work as a safety instructor at Brno. Killed in a road accident near Prague on July 10th 2008.

For the lucky weak, success breeds carelessness, and in the end, the weak perish by a 90% majority to such pros as, say, the great Mark Donohue. That's why this list is probably much longer than what mm.org has on actual race casualties, the socalled LWF-section (Lest We Forget). In my estimate, the LWF will in time surpass the database proper.

I've neglected this topic for too long, now, and I'll update the new items a.s.a.p. Thank you, gentlemen, for all your late contrafibulations.

Carl-Otto Bremer, Finnish driver who won Eläintarhanajot in 1959 and finished 9th in Monte Carlo Rally of 1960 as well as winning Jyväskylän Suurajot at the same year. Died in 1962 when a plane piloted by him crashed into the shoreline of his summer cottage. Along with him died his co-driver Juhani Lampi and also Lauri Hurme, who was one of the founders of Hankiralli in 50s.

I think at least Mr. Bremer and Mr. Lampi belong on the list, no?

I am also surprised to see that Colin McRae is missing from the list, we all know what happened to him. I suppose that is a honest mistake though, seeing this thread was mostly active in 2006 and afterwards has recent and not-so well known additions, though in my minds all victims value the same.
Square numbers are just like women, if they're under 13 just do them in your head.
