Currently there is quite some interesting live pro & contra discussion on radio about the topic underway. It is at https://www.ndr.de/ndr1niedersachsen/ep ... layer.html
Sorry, but it is German only

It is very easy to look back at the situation of Bernd and have an opinion about it.

The discussion is all about if there should be or not a museum about Bernd Rosenmeyer.
wikipedia wrote:In 1933 Rosemeyer joined the SS as the only one of the German top racers and without any compulsion. All German drivers were required to join the rather unpolitical National Socialist Motor Corps, Rosemeyer chose the – even then – radical and elitist SS instead. Whilst on the podium in 1935 at the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix he was introduced to the famous aviator Elly Beinhorn. Their celebrity relationship was too good an opportunity to miss for the Nazi Party. Rosemeyer and Beinhorn were exalted and instrumentalized by the Nazi Party to the ideal German celebtriy couple of that time.

Too easy, to put it down like that mate ;)

I would like to have shed much more light on the personal situation of people at this very time and not slagging it completely off, like the contra site does.

A very interesting discussion.

For some it is very easy to slam down someone who was in the position of Bernd. WOII is here a difficult discussion too. (tbh its more a flame war of statements)

My link to WOII is that my granddad was in a concentration/work camp Westerbork for 2 years. Every Tuesday 10am there went a train to Auschwitz. "Pünktlich"
