I think this one is the actual Bandini's cockpit in Monaco 1967.330tr wrote:ascari66 wrote:WITHOUT doubtulibarra wrote:More I look to it, more I am convincing it's actually the 5th gear instead.330tr wrote:
It'is not even certain that it was in 5th gear..
Are you really, really sure?
Note the gear lever: it's not perfectly vertical, is curved. That means: when the bottom of the lever is in "N" position (as in the image), the top of the lever is not over the "N", but over the "2".
Look at this (bad) comparison:
L=top of the lever B=bottom of the lever
Considering L not vertical to B:
First pic: B is in "N" position
Second pic: where is B????

THIS picture is very bad . This is a detail that we will not find in this forum. The most logical is that the only place that Bandini was stalling for time was in the chicane , unfortunately on lap 82 he got fired .

maybe the resulting damage could have attributed to his accident the next day

It's not the truth.
Bandini's trials crash happened on Friday, in the morning. The car wasn't ready until Saturday for qualifiyng.

This is completely new to me! But we will have to write it off, it would have had nothing to do with his fatal crash. On the other hand, if this is proof that he was driving too hard all weekend...sadsac wrote:I did not know the day before his fatal crash he had another crash in practice at Monaco :amazed

Regarding his gears - it looks like it's in 4th gear, but I don't think it's actually in the "gate". i think it's in neutral, between 4th and 5th.

I have asked a police officer who lives in my hometown about gearing after accidents like this. She told that it is very common that gear levers are positioned in neutral after an accident. But she said also that this is common in luxury cars. In high performance cars it could be different because of the different type of gear wheels.

Bandini crashed during practice, got back to the pits, then went out again to test the car, which front-right suspension was damaged:PTRACER wrote:This is completely new to me! I'm in contact with Margherita Bandini, she's quite surprised that young generation of fans of motorsport like me and many more still remember about Lorenzo. If you wish I can ask her about anything but definitely won't ever ask about something related to the fatal crash of her husband.

Just be sure to tell her that her husband is fondly remembered among racing fans of all ages, still to this day.Scorpion wrote:I'm in contact with Margherita Bandini, she's quite surprised that young generation of fans of motorsport like me and many more still remember about Lorenzo.
