This is the "raw" clip - French TV were broadcasting handball and switched back and forth to show the aftermath of the accident. The actual impact itself wasn't shown, but can be seen in this amateur footage here: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13750

Hi,
These are 3d reconstruction I made step by step, trying to match the accident view (scene from sea, the first post).
I's very difficult to collimate the 3D model with the only incident shooting, taken from far away; the work is still in progress but is clear that:
1) the car touches the left cusp of the curve (I hope you understand)
2) Bandini tries to keep it on the track, but the left front wheel slams against the lamppost, the machine is lifted, tends to go towards the sea, but is held back and thrown back into the street by hay bales.
3) The real cause of the accident severity is the collision of the vehicle side against the iron railing of the ladder. In the collision the iron bars pierce the car (where there was the left tank), wounding Lorenzo and violently stop the forward motion, overturning the car.

All the accounts of the crash, from respectable journos, indicate that fatigue paid a major part in the mistake Lorenzo made at the chicane. I was surprised to hear of this, even though the accident occurred near the end of the race. What say ye...

There is no evidence that Bandini was more tired than others. It's probably a journalistic rumor going around shortly after the crash, and that has got a foothold immediately, due also to its literary charm ..
In an Italian forum, GPX.it, we are collecting a large amount of evidence, which showed that his times (I hope you understand..I'm using a lot google translate! ) has remained constant until the last, and some other facts considered obvious cannot be considered such. We can think of a mistake, but the story of the driver destroyed by fatigue is just a legend.

At the times Montecarlo was a very tough race, which lasted 100 laps and wore the drivers at distance. Probably Bandini was "tired" in the final laps of the race, but not more tired than what the other driver would be at that stage. I've seen documentaries and interviews to his late wife which show no evidence that he was depressed/sad/phisically worn out by life. He was a driver like the others of the time, with joy of life and will to win.

People look for reasons "Bandini was tired", "Bandini was unwell"...Why can't it be explained as driver error? The Monaco chicane was tight and fast. Drivers continued to crash there for several decades afterwards. Roberto Guerrero (1978) and John Nielsen (1984) in Formula 3 for example.

OK. Here is the extra "live" coverage of the crash. It shows more footage of the rescue team trying to 'straighten' the car (turn it the correct way/place it back on its wheels). Then there is approximately four minutes of new footage, where they remove Bandini from the car.

I found lots of newsreel footage as well. Some from TV news reports. Some from archive footage. I have combined them into one video. As there is no audio, I have added music (sorry if you don't like it ) Hopefully some of this footage is new - you can see that some matches with the "ABC" footage, even though it's in black and white. Also a *WARNING*, as this video contains very graphic images.
