My G25 wheel and Fanatec pedals are now in Japan and I just had my first F1 2012 / Codemasters F1 game experience with it. Absolutely amazing!!!

It's pretty forgiving under throttle, but the tyres are super easy to lock up under braking and you have to drive the car in a specific way otherwise you won't drive very fast. Actually when I first started lapping Abu Dhabi I couldn't get within 5 seconds of my best hotlap using the controller. Now I'm faster in a lot of places on the lap except for one of those awful chicanes on the back straight which I just can't get a good exit out of.

Here is a very random story and extremely weird coincidence.

I have always had the cars from the Superleague Formula game converted to rFactor, but I never had the circuits. The one I wanted the most was Jarama, because I had the others converted from GTR2 already.

So I went onto rFactorcentral and downloaded Jarama v1.2 and put it in the game, but the AI were absolutely terrible and could not complete a lap. So I started looking for an actual conversion.

Eventually I found a blog post from the original author of Jarama v1.2 for rF. In this blog post, the author says that his rFactor track was actually stolen from him and is the same one used in the game. They changed a few textures and fixed the AI and he only found out some months later, so he had to take legal action against them. Now I have even found the original SLF game and his name is in the credits.

The weird thing is...I realised that I recognised his name. I typed it into Google and it came up with his Twitter. "Spanish guy living in Tokyo".

Then it got weirder, because I realised I recognised his face. And finally it clicked...I have met him twice before :jaw: He is running a simulator experience in Tokyo, which is used by the supercar company I did some driving with in 2018/19. Isn't that strange?

Small world Paul. Nice story.
(I bet it isnt the last time something like that happens)

Similar thing.... In the middle of Europe on holiday from Aus, when a car ran into the back of me, (no real damage beyond a broken lens.) Got out ready for a WTF in a foreign language and got out saw he had an English rego and RHD (I was in a hire car).... another bloke from England, so no language probs.
We were just starting to talk about 'the incident' and both realised we knew each other. Turns out he was a good friend of mine from years before at school.
We all found a bar had a few bevvies and reminisced.
Old friends living 12000 miles apart, happened to be on holiday in the same part of Europe, not seen or contacted each other for many years and literally run into each other. :haha:

Actually a similar story is the reason why I live in Japan!

Four years ago, I came to Japan on holiday and my girlfriend bumped into some British guy she knew from London years earlier on a Tokyo street corner. He said he was living in Japan, but 1000 miles away in another city and was just visiting Tokyo for the weekend. Anyway we got talking, he told me he was teaching English and earning money etc. As a result of that conversation I decided to come here.

Considering there are 7 billion people on Earth, the chances of travelling to the other side of the world and bumping into someone you know must be incredibly small.

I think it's more common than you think. Look at the saying birds of a feather flock together.

We are generally friendly with people who have similar interests, and therefore are likely to go to similar places.

We have travel dictated by seasons, and therefore we limit the amount of time that we could be in said place.

Then break that place down further into the tourist attractions and you're narrowing it down even more.

There's a logic behind it once you realise it's not just "out of x billion square metres of planet we're in the same one", and the odds are actually far shorter.

I still play BF2 from time to time. Awesome game.

Would choose BF over COD any day.
By the way, @Cheeveer recommended a WWII shooter a few months ago I think? Can’t remember the name though.
