Ian-S wrote:The driver head is, in theory, really easy to do (especially in nr2003), what interests me is how they got the suspension to move in GPL but you can't do the same thing in NR (the reason I'm comparing to NR is because the two games share much of the same code).

Is there any car building tutorials for GPL available that show the construction code and switches like there is for NR?
I've tried looking but never really found anything.
You should ask that at SRMZ. If they can't answer that, then probably no.

A brand new, historically accurate 1967 season with slightly revised physics has just been released. I haven't tried it yet, but I drove with a wheel in a Lotus 49 for the first time in months yesterday. Totally surprised with how quickly I got back into it!

Also released in the last few weeks is a 98% accurate version of Riverside 66, Nassau Oakes, Trenton '67 and Daytona Speedway '67. CanAm 1966 mod is coming soon. GPL is probably my favourite racing game again.

Saw that too! Great stuff, but a bit complicated to get going. Love the new Riverside and Nassau tracks!

to get the gpl running is very easy,

if you have the disc or an iso that is step one but not install anything yet

2- https://gplps.wordpress.com/gplps-gpl-installer/ go there and get the 1.07 installer

run the installer and when ask show it where the gpl disc is, then select the options that you like to load,

and the installer installs the gpl, patches and updates, you are ready to go with the original gpl updated to run

* if you want mods then you need the Gem and if you use the stick and clutch, need the GPL shift patch

the whole thing should not take more than 15m

if the graphics or anything gives you some trouble, try changing rasters

hope it helps

And it's one of the most rewarding mods I've ever driven. I'm going to film some laps later at Riverside and Nassau Oakes. I can hardly believe this game is nearly 20 years old.

Yes, it's fantastic. I'm already embarking on a full season! (Pro Long races, calender bloated to 11 races (incl. Westwood, Pacific Raceway, Watkins Glen, Marlboro and Nassau)).

Pacific is awesome, I was just thinking of testing the cars there. What car is your favourite so far?

Haven't tried that many. The McLarens ain't bad. The Chaparrall is fast but feels funny with only 2 gears.

The Lola T70 427 I've been running most only has two gears. The annoying thing is, my reaction is to brake and downshift a few gears quickly, so the first time I drove the car I was shifting into neutral and then reverse and spinning off the track at slow corners :haha: Then once I remembered I had TWO gears not four, but I was still downshifting too soon. Downshifting much later gives more stability under braking.

That car is a piece of shit at tracks like Bridgehampton though. The McLaren-Elva felt great to drive there. I'd also recommend driving the Genie at Stardust. Problem is, as nimble as they are in the corners, I bet they're probably slow as fuck compared to the T70 and the M1B.

Well, I just did a 1:18,2 at Pacific in the works McLaren, try to beat that!

Did it in a championship race, but lost 3rd on the last lap with a blown engine! Coasted over the line as 11th. :haha:

I'm not sure why my M1B is stuck in the 1'25s at Pacific, unless we're either using different cars, or different versions of Pacific.

Sounds like something Jolyon Palmer or Haryanto might say.....

Edit: Or Vettel. :haha:

PS: Great clips guys. Makes me want to try and find my old wheel. Oh and a working copy of GPL.

Found some updates to St. Jovite to make that track look much better:
