Moments of 2020 you might have forgotten
The "No grip" Turkish GP. Both Force Indias led most of the race. Then someone Hamilton came from nowhere and won it and the championship. My memory was also of Stroll falling down the order, but I don't remember Perez coming through to 2nd.
The absolute mess of the Mugello GP (and the fact we saw the first and probably only F1 race there):
Submit your own, remind me of what happened this year.

The board equivalent of the Jody scheckter chicane. Fast but pointless

I'd submit my moment I've forgotten, but I can't remember what I shod submit.

Oh wait, got one! Remember waking up Friday morning in March to find the GP had been cancelled with an hour to go?

Albon getting punted off by the Lewinator in Austria. Possibly costing him a chance at the win.
And Lando hotlapping to get inside of Lewis' 5 second penalty to get his first podium.
This is a fascinating insight to the stupid amount of coaching going on.

Why they travelled may sound idiot now.
But let's not forget this when the true gravity of this thing was becoming apparent.
Any photos from the time? Were there driver-fan interactions?
It was a farce, but the decision was probably correct.

The farce was not that they decided to cancel the race, but that they decided to go there in the first place. The FIA and Liberty thought they could get away with running the GP. But it was McLaren that forced them to make that decision to cancel it.

Cant remember much of this year. I do remember on the news here the crowd arriving for the AGP (having at 5am Friday been told to arrive as normal) being told at 9am Friday there would be no GP..
And my own WTF feelings with a bit of I remember I told you so thoughts. I also remember in the lead up to the race the fears that teams from Italy would not be allowed entry as Italy was Covid Central at the time. I remember Brawn saying if any teams were restricted from travel race would be non championship status.
Seem to remember teams arriving early to beat the travel restrictions introduced with a week's notice.
I then remember the PM basically saying Ferrari / F1 would be exempt from any restrictions, and at that at some point was thinking we might get away with it.. I decided I wasnt going near the place.
Then as raceday got down to couple of days away other GPs being cancelled.
Meanwhile the supports started running practice and qualy
Then we got the first few team people getting symptoms and being isolated.
Followed by the McLaren positive case confirmation and withdrawal bombshell I think Thursday night/early hours Friday.
And then the escalation of everyone saying WTF were they thinking of trying to run it, should have been called off earlier etc etc.

The AGP happened at the worst possible time, as I recall a week or two earlier many events worldwide were still going ahead and there weren't really any restrictions in Australia (although there was a lot of panic buying and unease) and a week or two later everything was cancelled or postponed.
With that said the way the AGP cancellation was handled was farcical, I remember going to sleep at about 1am (5 or 6 hours after the McLaren pullout announcement) and seeing reports that it was going to be cancelled and then waking up at 8am and finding that it still hadn't been officially cancelled and that the 2-seater was out on the track doing laps. I think it later came out that several drivers had already left the country in the middle of the night by the time they cancelled it.

Let's be honest. The Australian GP just happened to be scheduled at a time when the pandemic started becoming global vs. local (limited to China, Iran, South Korea and Italy). Everyone got caught by surprise. Can't blame F1 for it.theracer120 wrote: ↑3 years ago The AGP happened at the worst possible time, as I recall a week or two earlier many events worldwide were still going ahead and there weren't really any restrictions in Australia (although there was a lot of panic buying and unease) and a week or two later everything was cancelled or postponed.

Thats right .....I had forgotten that bit. I think it was Seb and Kimi had caught a 5am flight out of the country.theracer120 wrote: ↑3 years ago I think it later came out that several drivers had already left the country in the middle of the night by the time they cancelled it.

the passenger manifest of Emirates? That was fake news - the manifest dates back to a few years before when they were team mates.Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑3 years agoThats right .....I had forgotten that bit. Yeah, can't blame F1 for sleeping three weeks straight. Check your calendar, by that time the pandemic was already all over the place. I remember we cancelled ALL local events on the morning of March 2.Antonov wrote: ↑3 years agoLet's be honest. Yeah, that's ridiculous. As I have said so often, F1 has become pit wall chess with the "drivers" as mere pawns in the game. Do this and do that, don't forget to pit when we say so, and take care of that spot of dust in Turn 3. And to think that people compare today's "drivers" with the greats of the past, makes me wanna cry.
