Re: 2021 F1 Calendar

Post by Michkov » 1 month ago

Latest post of the previous page:

Last time I checked Rios circuit hasn't even started the building process. 13 months is a tad short to clear landmines and build a track.

Saudi Arabia would be a street circuit from what I saw, with a purpose build track for 2022 on.

Then again I'm fairly certain that calendar will be pruned by the plague again. What I find odd is that there hasn't even been mention of a contingency plan. I find it hard to believe FOM dont have one.

Mario Kart 2021: F1 edition.

Liberty's fictional 20-year-old fan that they're pandering to would get behind that, surely.

No it wont. I believe it is 30 miles out of Riyadh in the area where this years "Dakar" rally finished.

Suspect Brazil will end up at Piquet's circuit as how the fuck will the rainforest be mashed in time?

As for Saudi, I hope it's not too close to a political prisoner camp, we wouldn't want Lewis to notice anything unethical

They'll mist oil up to block out any sight of it.

Do you mean in Brasilia or Jacarepagua? Because the later is an Olympic village and not the Russian kind were you can hold race.

Probably the one that actually exists? :haha:

It'll still need upgrades, but it'll either be that or no Brazil

It doesn't look terrible, looks a bit like the Osterreichring in length and shape, but no doubt more like a bike track and flat as a pancake

This summarises it better than I could!

I wonder why they want to switch away from Interlagos. Is it because of how bloody dangerous it is in Sao Paolo?

I think as much of it is Liberty wanting to get away from Interlagos, and the mates rates deal Bernie deal did with Interlagos because he liked the place, and had local investments... a coffee farm / factory and property I think and was personal friends with the promoter. He used to live there in Brazil a lot of the time I have read.
Liberty were not prepared to offer Interlagos a renewed deal based on mates rates and looked elsewhere Rio. Basically flush out any remnants of Bernie's influence.

I might be wrong with that but that is me reading between the lines of things I have read.

Relations have totally broken down, we sadly won't be seeing interlagos for quite a while.

The Vietnamese Grand Prix has been dropped from the 2021 Formula 1 calendar, BBC Sport has learned.

It raises doubts that the race, due to make its debut in April before it was called off because of the coronavirus pandemic, will ever take place.

The date of the Vietnam race, 25 April, has been left blank on a 22-race 2021 schedule to be published on Tuesday.
