Murray Walker on the 2020 British GP
Haven't heard from him for a while, glad to hear he is doing well. He will be 97 in two months and he isn't firing on any less cylinders than he was 20 years ago.

He did say in the podcast that he doesn't think Ferrari will win again until 1922. I think that's about right.

He sounds pretty alert and remembers dates which is great for someone his age.
The one thing that surprised me was in his comments on Schu he never mentioned the Damon Hill collision at Adelaide.
(I think he also said it was Prost who he interfered with at Monaco when he stopped at Rascasse.... I think he meant Alonso. But I forgive him that one in a 'live' conversation.

Murray is a legend isn't he? No one has ever come close to him when it comes to live commentary on a race. His mistakes only endeared him to most of us who were listening to him.
My favourite Murray comment is still 'In order to finish first in F1, first you have to finish'. You can't argue with logic like that

Yes, I was thinking of 2004? Or 2006? When he parked against the barrier, supposedly by mistake...Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑3 years ago He sounds pretty alert and remembers dates which is great for someone his age.

My thoughts exactly. So reassuring to hear Murray's voice amid all that's going on. When the topic of Silverstone came up and he mentioned how he was at the GP at Silverstone in 48, two years before the first 'F1' race, it took me a few seconds to comprehend the enormity of what this man has been witness to. From surviving WW2, in tank warfare no less, to witnessing first-hand virtually the entire evolution of motorsport around the world, the man has definitely lived a full life.

I also remember Martin Brundle during an late 90's F1 race talking about the GP cars racing at Donington in 1938 (or '37?) and how amazing it must have been to see the thundering Merc's / Auto Unions on track. Murray replied something like 'I was there, Martin...'SB83 wrote: ↑3 years ago My thoughts exactly. So reassuring to hear Murray's voice amid all that's going on.
