A few things that transpired in the race.....

• Verstappen is the first man to win from a starting position other than pole since Lewis Hamilton in Mexico last year, ending a streak of 7 Grands Prix in a row.

• Verstappen is Red Bull's first winner at Silverstone since 2012 when Mark Webber took victory.

• It is the first Silverstone victory for Red Bull’s engine suppliers Honda since Alain Prost triumphed for McLaren in 1989.

• Verstappen today surpassed his father Jos’s record for the most F1 starts by a Dutch driver. Today was his 107th.

• Team mate Alex Albon took his 8th top-5 finish since joining Red Bull.( In his 14th start with RBR)

• In finishing ahead of the fellow Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas, Lewis Hamilton ensured he has not been beaten by a team mate at Silverstone in the hybrid era. The last time he lost out was prior to that in 2013, when Nico Rosberg won.

• Today’s was the 8th consecutive Silverstone race in which Hamilton has finished 1st or 2nd.

• With his 2nd place, Hamilton equalled Michael Schumacher's all-time record of 155 podium finishes.

• It was Hamilton's 38th consecutive classified finish, putting him just 3 short of Nick Heidfeld's all-time record.

If it gets boring you've to pull out the records to underline how important, serious and competitive a so called world(!) championship is.
Works in any series. When Marquez ran away with it in Motogp last year we suddenly learnt about everso increasing lean angle records.

I've learnt to ignore such headlines especially if they come in the lot in the attempt of covering up for an otherwise boring championship.

Then why trying every time again? Stick to 2 wheels.

oh look, Fan mail again!
I feel honoured, really. :haha:

On a more serious note though, you better have a look into narratives.

Oh well, back to MotoAmerica at Pitts Int'l, another of these beautiful circuits.

I see Vettel has done his best to upset Ferrari by whingeing on the radio during the race about how the team screwed his race with a poor strtegy, and then went public with the same rant afterwards saying the strategy left him in the middle of a pack of cars he couldnt pass. Vettel questioned Ferrari's strategy calls after the race, saying the team had gone against its original plan set in the morning and that the decision to run a short stint on the hard compound tyre "didn't make any sense".

Binotto immediately responded to Vettel with a very terse statement that basically told Seb he had screwed his own race by spinning to last place on his own, and that damaged his race more than any strategy calls. Fair call I reckon. He also said Seb hadnt lost faith in Ferrari, he was just going through a bad patch, had no confidence in the car and had been qualifying badly.

He did however admit they had pitted Seb a couple of laps early to help Leclerc, which I dont understand... Leclerc was nowhere near Seb, and half a lap ahead of him in a different race.

UItimately I think Binotto is right... Seb screwed his own race by spinning out on lap 1 to be dead last. No strategy without an SC to help is going to help you recover into the points from that. Unless you have a Mercedes I guess, who are able to lapat least a second quicker than the next best car on the grid

Yea exactly, I read his post-race comments can't even believe he even had the gall to say that. Any strategy you plan before the race automatically goes out the window when you spin and put yourself in last place. When asked about the spin, he had fewer words however, just a 'I don't know what happened there'.

Hulkenberg's vibration was reportedly caused by Daddy Stroll repeatedly poking him in the back saying, "Go on, let my son finish ahead, go on, go on"

If he couldn't pass them during poor strategy, he'll struggle to pass them after effing up on the first lap...

2020 isn't all bad. The mood in the club house is buoyant.

Well, you have to ask why he was in traffic that put him behind cars like Raikkonen and Russell, Latifi, Gio and the Haas, Alpha Tauries etc that he struggled to pass after they got in front of him. Answer because he spun to let them pass him.
That they had to pit him a couple of laps early to short stint his hard tyre session was no doubt because he flat spotted them in the lap 1 spin. :dunno:

He just isnt doing himself any favours atm behavioural or performance wise

I honestly believe that Racing Point would be better served by a Perez/Hulk lineup in 2021 than a Perez/Vettel or Stroll/Vettel.
