Bottom post of the previous page:

So, with their silly tyre naming this year, the tyres that were the mediums last week are called hard this week, the ones that were soft last week are this week called medium and we have a softer soft compound as soft. 8 sets of soft, 3 sets of medium and 2 sets of hard.

It's only silly to the geeks. I am as big an F1 fan as anybody, but I don't need to know that its a C1, C2, C3 etc. It's overly complex for a large amount of viewers.

This weekend we have a hard, medium and soft. Next weekend, we have a hard, medium and soft.

This weekend we have a C2, C3 and C4, and next weekend we have a C3, C4 and C5.

Ok, I don't have intimate knowledge of those tyres because their lifespan are track dependant, so just tell me they're hard, medium and soft please.

Hulk is going well.... he was third but Max has just pipped him by a couple of hundredths. Stroll down in 8th, but he might have backed out of his quick lap.
Mercs are nearly a second faster than Max, then Hulk with CLAP a tenth back on him

Albon's car looks awful through the bends.... having to lift and correct where the Mercs are nailed to the floor.
I think the Mercs are running much higher downforce... they seem to have a huge power advantage here and can afford to run high downforce that the others cant, just to have some top speed.

To be fair it's better than soft, super soft, ultra soft, softer than a soft thing being soft rubbish we had before ;)

Wait so they went one step softer overall? Thought it'd have been the other way around, based on my understanding that a softer tyre is more susceptible to wear and failure.

Maybe it's a case of the harder compounds not dissipating heat fast enough compared to the softer ones or something like that which goes over my head. :rockedover:

Yes they are one step softer throughout this weekend.... hence the talk of it being a 2 stop race, and also I suspect why the teams are all running softs in FP1, to judge how long the softs will last, given the likleyhood of them being the start tyre for those in the top 10 who cant get through Q2 on mediums.

Jenson Button (who, having expired in May, might be a marionette controlled by Paul Di Resta) has just drawn attention to Hulk's pink helmet. It's a very nice design from what I could see!

:haha:

Well, he thrust his pink helmet into 4th position in FP1. Let's see how FP2 goes.

FP2 Underway.... its clouded over a bit, but it is still over 30C ambient and 45C track.
Teams are going out on the harder compounds this aervo as they will want to check their durability in the heat for tomorrow's race, especially given the late race dramas we saw last weekend.

Yeeessss..... Stroll went out and topped the time sheets . 5 minutes later Hulk went out and beat him to go top with his first flyer, beating Stroll by 4 hundredths. Hammy and Bottas plus the RBRs havent gone out yet though.....
