Awe that's a shitter, rather a shame that it appears they are having to goto some lengths to emphasis it was from a long term illness and old age and not anything else though.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Very sad news. We should not remember him just as one of the best to never win an F1 champ, but as one of the greatest racing drivers ever, and one of the sports' greatest ambassadeurs ever. His win in the 1955 Mille Miglia remains as the greatest motorsport achievement ever in my book. F1 champ or not, there was not one race in the period of 1958 until his Goodwood crash in '62 where Moss was not the driver all else wanted to beat.

RIP Stirling.

I woke up this morning wondering how some of the older motorsports figures were coping with the lockdown.. I pictured Stirling Moss sitting at this desk writing letters, or doing something productive. Now a few hours later I find he's no longer with us and he's been sick for some time.

Although I feel sad, I feel I'm being selfish in doing so. He left his mark. He was already racing when my grandparents were toddlers, his career ended before my parents were even born. He raced hundreds of times all over the world, in dozens of dream cars. And in his own words, he also "had a lot of crumpet". A life really well lived, I think.

I just learnt of the news when I logged in and saw the thread. Very sad news. For me he was the one iconic name that everyone knew, and he deservedly lived the life, and rode the wave. A true and great legend of our sport. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Thanks for the memories Sir Stirling.

RIP.

Saw him once in person at the 2005 Australian GP and felt proud when I did.

90 is a good innings for anyone, let alone for someone of his era of racing.

Sadly it's inevitable that folks like him are leaving us now. But they leave behind a legacy for all of us to appreciate.

RIP Sir Stirling.

Moss was one of those I never met, but did see drive at Goodwood. The sad thing is I don't really remember it.
