I think Albon is on pole to be Max' team mate for 2020.

I can’t see it being anything other than Albon. Unless he somehow muffs up the next races.

And he'd have to really cock it up badly. He's had a great start.

This must be the most boring F1 off-season ever. It's just Ocon for Hulk and Latifi for Kubica. I give that 0/10.

Hulkenberg will probably end up in DTM now where his F1 comeback hopes will die a slow death.

A sort of "Ricciardo"-move would spice up the off-season.

F1 has been very stale in terms of driver moves since 2010, with teams preferring to stick with the known element for the majority of the decade.

Hamilton - McLaren 08-12, Merc 13-
Button - McLaren 10-17
Alonso - Ferrari 10-14, McLaren 15-18
Rosberg - Mercedes 10-16
Vettel - Red Bull 09-14, Ferrari 15+
Webber Red Bull 08-13
Riccardo - Red Bull 14-18, Renault 19-

Only the moves of Riccardo and Hamilton were a bit out there. Everything else was a safe and sensible move.

Add Raikkonen and Ferrari to that list.... return visit having been got rid of back in 2009 when he went rallying, NASCARing etc.

Assuming that you’re ducking as an automatic reaction to remembering that Kimi was crashing rally cars in 2010 and 2011.

Hulk knocks back McLaren Indycar Offer

I mentioned this in the Indycar thread....so ultimatelely with his dislike of Formula E, his dislike of Ovals (the reaon he declined McLarens Indycar offer) his opportunities are still just Williams and Alfa. Marko has told Nico to stop phoning him re RBR/STR seats. He still seems to think there is a chance, even though he appeared to rule out driving for Williams just a few days ago.

Personally I think Williams are too drawn in to Latifi's millions $$$ , and certainly are not in a position to pay Hulkenberg what he seems to value himself at.

Williams seem to be keen on him returning but confirm no talks have happened. Claire Williams told the German broadcaster RTL: "We haven’t spoken to him yet so we don’t know if he would be interested in driving for us.

"But Nico is a great driver and we are looking for great drivers. We would definitely talk to him."
Nico Hulkenberg has turned down an offer to drive for McLaren in the British marque’s first full Indycar season next year.

"I have a lot of respect for those who race on ovals, it’s just not my thing," said the German, after McLaren boss Zak Brown revealed the failed talks in Singapore.

Earlier, the Renault refugee had also ruled out Formula E, saying the all-electric series is "not exactly exciting".

"Formula 1 blood flows in my veins," Hulkenberg insisted.

The 32-year-old has already missed out on the Haas seat, and Antonio Giovinazzi looks set to keep his Ferrari-promoted seat at Alfa Romeo.

Giovinazzi’s father Vito has apparently been telling people in the paddock that his 25-year-old son has already signed up for 2020.

"Don’t ever believe a father," Hulkenberg laughed.

"They sit here all day, talking and drinking a little and talking a little more.

"I’m calm. Let’s see what happens," he added.

Hulkenberg also revealed in Singapore that Red Bull’s Dr Helmut Marko had told him to stop phoning.

"Hulkenberg is hard to imagine for Red Bull," Marko told Germany’s Motorsport-Magazin.com in Singapore. "We look at the external options, but no one would be a significant improvement."

Hulkenberg told Sky Italia: "There is still a realistic possibility of staying in Formula 1.

"It’s difficult to talk about specifics, because as you can imagine that’s private details. But everyone knows what places are available.

"Right now I am still totally focused on Formula 1."
