Max wants Hulk apparently, but it certainly seems as though the second RB seat is Albon/Perez/Hulk.

I'd probably say Hulk first, then Perez, but only because I think Hulk would be a better fit - Perez doesn't do #2 driver well.
Well, that is probably why Max prefers Hulk. I suspect Perez would do better in that environment, as he is a little more "confident."

Better isn't what Red Bull want though. Hulk and Perez are very evenly matched, but Perez wouldn't take the Helmut/Christian/Max circus as well as Hulk, who let's be honest would probably be quite happy to drive a season at Red Bull where (if the car is good enough for 3rd an 4th) with 1 podium and 22x 4th placed finishes.

Notes:

Albon podiums in around 20 races: 1
Albon best of the rest behind Merc 1, Merc 2 and Max: Err.

I doubt RB wants a mouthy number 2 who won't do what he's told to do. It seems as though Gasly didn't quite gel with the staff, I'm not sure if Perez will either.

As for Max, obviously he doesn't want anyone who might threaten his place as #1 in the team.

It's good that Russel has a seat in 2021, he's at a stage of his career where he needs to race, not drive simulators. It didn't to Ocon or Magnussen any favors, exactly (sitting on the sidelines).

Well, it appears from his interviews last weekend that Perez clearly has something in the works that he was not willing to talk about. The last interview I saw with the Hulk was that he would be happy to run with Red Bull but no one is talking to him. So...if I take this at face value.....

Anyhow, Ocon does seem a little out of sorts from his year off, but he was working on Mercedes simulators and then went to Renault. Russell would be working on Mercedes simulators and then....

Hamilton seems to want a one or two year deal....so potentially two seats in play come 2023. What more does Russell have to prove at Williams?

If I were Hamilton i'd want a two year deal. Next year is as close to a guaranteed title as you'll get, and there is every chance that Mercedes will still be the team to beat in 2022. If not, your deal is up at the end of the year and maybe you fancy Ferrari or say 100 wins is enough, i'm off.

I agree. I suspect that is part of the reason there has been a hold-up in the negotiations, because Mercedes wants a three-year contract.

This would make 2023 a very interesting silly season.

Im not sure he wants to drive for three more years. I am sure I heard him say as much last weekend.
Perhaps his conscience and his plant eating tree-hugging save the planet ideals dont fit in with his jet setting and driving gas guzzling noisy polluting ICE powered F1 cars. Plus he needs more time to devote to his protest work. Not to mention furthering his musical career. :whistling: :dunno:

Then come back after two seasons out, have an uninspired couple of years at Ferrari, then retire again.

So as far as Perez goes it is now pretty much Red Bull or nothing (in F1 anyway). It seems Haas will be Schu and Mazepin.
I always saw Checo as being an Indycar bound guy, given his North American heritage and the likely greater association /relevance of his Mexican Sponsors products in the US.
Having said that not sure what opportunities in terms of seats there are in Indycar. I am aware of several recent confirmations of deals locked away in the past week or so.

In Indycar anything is possible if you have money.

But I can't see him wanting to go there - yet anyway.

If you swap the word Indycar for life, that statement still seems to hold true.

Perez is finding all the seats around him are already taken or being rumoured to go to others, that has to be a horrible feeling for him. If he's not going to Red Bull it seems more likely now he could be out the door. Mind you, he's not the first F1 driver that has happened to and I doubt he'll be the last either.

How serious is the Tsunoda/AlphaTauri link? If BBC mentions that on public air there must be a lot of smoke behind the scenes.

Honda is out after 2021 so technically it's like a one-year rental for Tsunoda?

It's a done deal - Helmut said so in recent interviews.
