I don't have enough Mongol enthusiasm to start a Portuguese GP thread, so I'll just post this here

F1 is using the faster T1. Me likey. The straight is long enough to allow overtaking despite this, I reckon.

I used to like Estoril as a track. It will be interesting to see what this one is like instead.

At least it's the same for all the teams, they won't have the banks of data from previous years to rely on here, they have limited time to work out the best course of action for the weekend re set up and tyres.

A mix of the old Jarama and Dijon-Prenois.

Lando has apologised for speaking the truth about the merit of Lewis Hamilton's achievements.

Said that Lewis' achievements don't mean that much because he only has to beat two drivers. (He didn't mention that in 2014-2016 he only had to beat 1)

He's not wrong. Vettel had to beat Webber, Button, Alonso and Hamilton to win his 4 titles, and their cars were much closer to his Bull than to Lewis' Merc, and yet who is going to say that Vettel's 4 are worth more than Hamilton's last 5?

Is this another one beyond 2021?
He only got given the 2021 extension in July/August of this year.

If he has another extension now for 2022 that is exactly what George Russell does not want. Id be moving on if I was George and this is a 2022 extension.

It's either that, or the fact that Sochi keeps returning to the calendar.

This is pretty damn interesting insight from Grosjean as he's spilling aaaaall the beans on why Haas is such a shitbox.

Interesting. I had read of the overheating problem but this with Gary Anderson's input explains it well.
Two things spring to mind. Firstly the fact that Haas use the Ferrari rear suspension so these issues are highly likely (more like certainly) the root of the Ferrari problem, especially knowing that Ferrari have already said their problem is rear balance and their updates have been in this area..... anyway, this highlights to me what a brilliant job Leclerc is doing to drive around these issues when Vettel and the two Haas drivers cant even begin too.

Secondly, given the lack of car development allowed for 2021 it is going to be a baptism of fire of the thrown in at the very deep end variety for Chewbacca Jnr and Mazepin coming into Haas (should that as strongly suggested as signed and sealed transpire) given their 'Greenfinger' status and complete lack of F1 experience. This to deal with on top of the general quantum leap of F1 over any feeder category.

As an aside I am pretty sure the Alfa would use a Ferrari-esque configuration too.... Kimi and Gio may have been dealing with similar issues, and have been closer to Leclerc than Vettel, so that puts their improvement and overcoming the issues as a plus to their to their gain and general level of performance of late. Perhaps a justification for Gio in particular to seemingly being given a rumoured lifeline when his future looked bleak. Also backs the theory of KImi skills in development and engineer feedback and why he has been such a key to the team.

Russell needs to score a damn point first. No way he's getting the best car on the grid based on two full seasons without a single point - even in the shitty Williams. The Damon Hill Brabham-to-Williams story can happen only once.

Bottas is like the poor man's Mark Webber. He's fast enough in qualifying to challenge Hamilton for poles even if he doesn't have the race pace to match him at most circuits. And he doesn't crash the car either. If only Mercedes was pushed in the constructors then a change could be in place but currently Red Bull #2 is still weaker than Bottas by miles.

Alfa Romeo extends its Sauber F1 deal into 2021 season

No real surprises here despite the lack of performance from the part of the deal Ferrari engine, but the relationship is now set to continue for another year at least, with the intention to continue beyond that. I think the deal is now in its third year, with the association starting for the 2018 season.

Vettel’s car advantage was still such that he had some awful drives and still managed to come out on top.

But still, point taken. That Bottas can be 0.5-0.75s per lap off Lewis and still finish 2nd says something.

Oh I don't know, I distinctly remember him teaming with two world champions (Alonso and Button) and winning a WC and 21 grand prixs before he ever went to Mercedes. I also remember his first teammate at Mercedes (Rosberg) was rather consistently beating Michael Schumacher in the same car and team over the last three years. Hard to argue that Rosberg wasn't a worthy challenger.

Norris' comments are crap.
