If Hamilton wins a race this year, it'll be 14 seasons in a row that he's won a race, and a race in every season he's competed in. It'd be quite amazing if Hamilton were to win a race in every single season by the time he retires.

Schumacher is the only comparable, as he has 15 seasons in a row where he won a race, which was a win in every FULL season he competed in during his first career (seasons 1992-2006)

Not quite as good as your statistic @DoubleFart I know, but I like this one.

Now I admit I haven't been keeping an eye on him since he left F1 but up to 2015 I read that Pastor Maldonado had the dubious honour of never fininshing the first race of any season of any motorsport racing he ever took part in. He crashed out every single time.
Just so you all know, and to prevent confusion, I am indeed a woman ;)

Even though, in 2005 the only GP he won was the 6 cars started USGP due to the tyre shitfight that had all the Michelin runners withdraw after the outlap.. Even then IIRC he had to run Rubens off the track in the other Ferrari to get the win fromthe Jordans and Minardiswho were all lapped at least once.
Had the full field started the race.....
(But yes the history books still show 'Chin' as having won a GP in 2005, however undeserving it was)

F1 cars (and tracks) should turn left and right.

We'll just forget about 1950-1960 :P.

I never considered them to be part of it anyway..... usually different drivers with occasional one off exceptions, strange cars, and it was only ever included to bring the numbers up/justify a world championship at a time (first three years) when they were otherwise all EUropean races. Just took them until the US came up with proper left right tracks to be able to cull the Indy 500 from the calendar.

I'd say now is the time if you want to try something different. This year is an oddity anyway.

Besides, Reims was practically an oval if it wasn't for one gentle sweeper.

And let's not forget that everyone's favorite circuit only had 1 single left turn (a fast sweeper really) until they ruined it with chicanes.

I agree that it's time for them to try something new. I think we may be surprised to see a bit of drafting for a change. Perhaps we will get an oddball winner that may make the race enjoyable.

There is a (badly driven) onboard of the lap from what seems to be rFactor 1 on this Autosport video here:

In terms of laptime, it would be competing with Dijon in 1974, which (AFAIK), is the only time F1 cars lapped a circuit in under 60 seconds.

I'm well up for it incase I didn't mention previously.. variety. Why, when we have different configurations available, do we insist on racing the same one each year?

When they changed to the alternate long layout in 2010 I think, I loved it. Admittedly.. it wasn't a great change, but it was a change, it was interesting and a neat little experiment. Circuits with the ability to change their layout year on year should look to do it more often, especially considering how one sided the racing has been in recent seasons. Mix it up!
