Monaco is no different to any other circuit, in that it has evolved over the years so shouldn't be considered immune to alteration.

Current F1 has become bulletproof and that takes all the excitement away. The 1996 race saw nothing other than cars dropping out and they drool over it like it was last lap Daytona 500 kind of a deal. Changing the track layout to improve the excitement is a short-sighted move that won't work and should be killed off right away. The fact Monaco is a one-stop race also makes it even more boring but nobody can even risk a Mika Salo-like tactics anymore.

And yet even after being transported back to 1955, Ericsson is still the slowest driver on the circuit despite having much better machinery.

You beat me to it.
By three hours.
I'm slower than Lord Marcus.
Edit: That looks like a Porsche though. Bonnier or Gurney - 1961 or 1962?
Edit 2: Awesome video editing.

It has been confirmed Wolff asked FI if Ocon could let Hamilton pass. (As if it was not obvious)
Toto Wolff has admitted he asked for Esteban Ocon to let Lewis Hamilton past in Monaco.
Wolff is the team boss at Mercedes, and Ocon is a Mercedes junior driver.
The Frenchman currently drives for Mercedes-powered Force India, and after Monaco he seemed to hint that 'team orders' were in play when Hamilton sped past during the race.
"I'm a Mercedes driver," Ocon said. "You should ask the boss."
Wolff was asked by a reporter for La Derniere Heure if he gave the order for Ocon to let Hamilton through, and responded: "Yes."
Asked why, Wolff added: "It is how it is."

How is any of this news? Contracted driver of works team who drives for customer team is asked to make things easy for works driver... It’s like when people complain about team orders, it’s been happening since the dawn of F1. It’s not new.Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑5 years agoIt has been confirmed Wolff asked FI if Ocon could let Hamilton pass. (As if it was not obvious)

I refer back to my comment earlier in this thread about Norberto Fontana at Jerez in 1997. Seems like we have short memories.
(Ps, this isn’t a moan at you @Everso Biggyballies )

How the track has changed since 1962
screens taken from viewtopic.php?f=81&p=337443#p337443 posted by @DaleJuniorFan
The road from the Tunnel to Tabac was divided in two pieces by a fast chicane. For 1986 a new concrete section of track extending over the harbour was created. The chicane was made into a slow complex.
Tabac was then preceded by a ramp and the apex was further back from the waterline. They raced towards the Gasworks hairpin on the section where now the pitlane is situated.
Here the swimming pool is clearly visible and the road around it. Nowadays the track follows that road.
The Gazomètre hairpin. Visible is the building that is replaced now by the Rascasse restaurant. The height differences are clearly visible too.
