Ferrari seems having a total fuck up. They made a pit stop with doubtful utility and even botched it.
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It worked in Australia so the gamble was probably worth it.
This cannot even been labeled as a gamble. This is stupidity. Bottas is having no problem at all with the medium tyres
I disagree. The gamble was worth it, even if hindsight is a wonderful thing. Perez pitting is the reason Vettel was held and Ferrari wouldn’t have known that Force India were putting. Without that Seb would have had a good tyre advantage.
If the gamble was worth vettel would have been faster than bottas which he is not. It s a mistake. A big mistake which costs a lot to ferrari
And that leads you back to this...
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It worked in Australia so the gamble was probably worth it.
I wonder what the gamble was worth then. Were they trying to cover verstappen thinking that bottas would pass on the track?
Personally i rank this as a major fuckup. Nobody had problems finishing the race on medium tyres

Having seen a replay of the 2nd Ferrari pitstop, their blaming the delay on Perez is a load of bollocks .... he was already stationary in his pit box well down pitlane when Vettel pulled out. It was pure and simply a dreadfully slow stop. Nearly 6 seconds stopped. Not Ferrari's greatest day. Or weekend. Reliability down the pan, strategy fucked, teamwork woeful.

So business as usual then for Ferrari?
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Having rewatched the replay of the pit stop, I stand corrected.
Anyhow, this was Seb’s post race comment

Having jumped Valtteri Bottas at the start, Vettel looked set to finish runner-up to F1 world championship rival Lewis Hamilton at Barcelona.
But Ferrari brought Vettel in for a second pitstop when the virtual safety car appeared just past half-distance, dropping Vettel from second to fourth.
Asked by Sky Sports F1 if he felt that was the right tactic, Vettel replied: "Yeah, because the advice was it was not an option to stay out.
"We were going through the tyres quicker than the others, though obviously it looks different and looks wrong."

To be fair the commentators rather than Ferrari suggested it as a reason knowing Perez pitted at the same time. The commentators blaming it on the Perez stop was a load of bollocks. They obviously had not seen replays at the time of their comment.

One of the lesser knowledgable members on this board asked me why Kimi always has the bad luck at Ferrari.
Fair question. Let's just say that I'm pretty sure Ferrari takes a better look at Vettel's nuts and bolts than at Kimi's before the race starts (also known as preferential treatment, or number 1 status - if not on paper, than at least de facto).
Not a strong day for the Finnish drivers, which is odd as I believe they've been the faster driver more often than not in each team, though not as lucky or consistent.
No idea what to expect from Monaco, but I fancy Bottas to make a run between now and the Summer break.

Yay! Common sense. I was unaware that the lap 1 incident when Grosjean had his brain fade was even under investigation. I had thought it should have been. Well it was investigated post race and Romain has copped a 3 place grid penalty for Monaco. Plus two points on his license.
(Probably should have been 5 places, but 1 place for each car whose race he destroyed with his actions is better than nothing.)
Edit: Whoops Erwin just beat me to posting it.

Just finished watching the race and boy, that was a challenge staying awake.
Hamilton, flawless, Ferrari, bad choices made, even accounting for Perez stopping, it was still a poor call, even without the delayed release, Vettel still lost out on 2nd and 3 points. I can't help but feel a repeat of 2017 on the cards, Ferrari starting strong, then fading as the year goes on, leaving Hamilton to claim his fifth world drivers title.
Verstappen goes five for five, 5 races, 5 contacts with other cars. Many are saying Verstappen is a future world champion, I honestly question that as he continues to make mistakes, he is no longer a rookie, no more excuses for him.
