So we have our first look at the first of the ugly brigade tomorrow, when Williams bare their offering. Will it be as ugly as we suspect given the new regs, or will it not even be the real deal with all the secrecy that usually accompanies of late F1 launches, where what we see at launch is never what we see in Australia when it starts for real. No one wants to show their juicy bits until the very end of testing.

I'm trying to get excited but.... well it is is proving more difficult than previous years.

Maybe when we get testing and the STR Honda tops the timesheets. Hmmmm where is my medication. :haha:

What's really sad about the current regs is that they give the designers almost zero chance of coming up with something unique or different. This is not only tragic because pretty much all cars looks absolutely identical bar the livery, but it pretty much removes the chance for back marker teams to create a car that can punch above it's weight. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that the teams at least tried to differ from each other:

Haas has released images of its 2018 car. No need to post pictures, think 2017 car in 2016 colors, with the halo. That’s about it.

well, that's underwhelming really.

I expect to be posting that for the remaining 9 launches as well.

Things to look out for ahead of the 2018 launches...

McLaren color scheme
The inevitable feeling of being completely underwhelmed

apparently the Halo is something with quite a significant aero effect.

It needs to be from doubledeckerbus.com to be a validated correct and legal halo. :dunno:
If you had been following the halo thread you would have understood and seen videos by the likes of James Allison explaining the aero difficulties of the halo and its incorporation into an F1 car. It is not a simple bolt on accessory, rather something the car is designed around, like the power unit.

I detect a smaller shark fin in the render provided. (ie I dont think it is a proper photo)

It is a render. I thought shark-fins had been banned completely.

Me too. This looks more like a carp fin though, sort of narrow and long.. :sarcasm:
Its not like they need a huge area to display all their sponsors though, looking at the render anyway. Somewhere to post their race numbers in this instance.

At least they fixed the livery somewhat, guess they had to when Ferrari dropped off last years car.
