In 2017? No.
I think the problems go way beyond the Honda engines, but McLaren are not willing to admit it. This will compound the problem. McLaren will only see improvement by end 2018 season if they finally recognize the issues with the start of the Renault engines.

There's more chance of Red Bull securing a Mercedes engine supply for 2019 than McLaren doing that.

I wonder what McLaren's excuses will be when they don't succeed immediately with Renault.
If McLaren can be consistent solid top 6 finishers, I think they would call that a success, if they are still fighting for scraps with the same engine as Red Bull, they will have to admit that their chassis isn't as good as they claim it is.

Their performances at Hungary and Singapore would indicate that the chassis is indeed quite good, however.

Depends on what success is defined by.
It's clear that the Honda is shit: it hand grenades itself every five minutes, and unless the McLaren has a barn door attached to it then it totally sucks in a straight line because it's down on power.
But if they think they immediately jump up to winning championships, or races because they have an extra 50BHP, well, we'll see.

Let's hope so. The more cars filling what is a big gap between the top 3 teams and the rest, the better.
