Engine Components used in 2017 by driver/team.

Probably an area of interest to many as the year progresses, and here is the current status prior to the commencement of the Canadian GP 2017.

There are a few exceptions to the rule, but most teams seem to be more or less on schedule with their engine component allowances.
Williams and Force India are doing very well, both teams pretty well still on their first components of the year, whereas as we know Honda (McLaren) are already receiving penalties

Just to refresh you of those allowances prior to grid penalties for the season are that Four of each of the six elements that make up the power unit are allowed. Upon use of any 5th element a 10 place penalty is imposed.... 5th use of additional elements gets a 5 place penalty. (As an example Jenson (Alonso's car) received a 15 place penalty at Monaco, 10 for using for using the 5th 'TC' element of the year, and a further 5 spots for a 5th 'MGU-H' element.)
6th use of any elements gets a 10 place penalty with a further 5 for any other components etc. So hypothetically should Fernando require a 6th new Turbo this weekend he will cop a 10 place penalty.

Current Status as at 8th June 2017.

ICE = Internal Combustion Engine / TC = Turbo Charger / MGU-H = Motor Generator Unit - Heat / MGU-K = Motor Generator Unit - Kinetic / ES = Energy Store / CE = Control Electronics

So basically, McLaren have practically maxed out all of theirs already, everyone else is on their 1st or 2nd engine component, EXCEPT Vettel who's on his fourth turbo. That will deffo come into play later this season.

Ferrari should just pull the same stunt Merc did last year and just put in as many new turbos as they can over one weekend to minimise the possibility of having penalties being served week after week.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

I'm pretty sure that isn't allowed anymore, as a direct result of what Mercedes did with Lewis at Belgium.

An update highlighting the current status of engine components used as of the end of the Austrian GP, going into Silverstone:

Engine-related grid penalties have already been applied by some in 2017, while others are close to the limit. Nearing the mid-point of the year, this is an overview of the power unit elements used so far.
Just so you know the penalty rules for this year, from the opening post:
.... allowances prior to grid penalties for the season are that Four of each of the six elements that make up the power unit are allowed.

(Engine elements: ICE = Internal Combustion Engine / TC = Turbo Charger / MGU-H = Motor Generator Unit - Heat / MGU-K = Motor Generator Unit - Kinetic / ES = Energy Store / CE = Control Electronics)

Mercedes / Lewis Hamilton (2 2 2 2 2 2)

Force India (Mercedes) Esteban Ocon (2 2 2 2 2 2)
Williams (Mercedes) / Felipe Massa (2 2 2 2 2 2)
Williams (Mercedes) / Lance Stroll (2 2 2 2 1 2)
McLaren-Honda / Fernando Alonso (5 7 7 5 4 4)*
McLaren-Honda Stoffel Vandoorne (4 7 7 4 5 5)
Toro Rosso (Renault) Daniil Kvyat (3 3 3 2 3 3)
Toro Rosso (Renault) Carlos Sainz (3 3 3 3 2 3)
Haas (Ferrari) / Romain Grosjean (3 4 3 3 2 2)
Haas (Ferrari) Kevin Magnussen (3 4 3 3 2 2)
Renault Nico Hülkenberg (3 3 4 2 3 3)
Renault Jolyon Palmer (3 4 4 2 3 3)
Sauber (Ferrari, 2016) / Marcus Ericsson (3 3 3 3 2 2)
Sauber (Ferrari, 2016) / Pascal Wehrlein (3 3 3 3 2 3)

*Fernando Alonso is set to run a fifth ES during Friday practice, though at the time of publication the list of power unit elements had yet to be updated by the FIA.
