It's great to see a forum like this successfully riding the waves of social media. It is much better to speak about a subject in a dedicated place rather than sifting through heaps of comments on Facebook. I might be old school but I truly believe this works better.2016 is the forum's best year in 5 years

I use social media a lot to seek for news. Not for debates.

Hey Picci, I totally agree! Other means of communicating like social media and escpecially twitter have given huge resonance to some topic of discussions but have reduced the quality of interactions; what I mean is that on twitter I could have a discussion about F1 at any time by barely posting my valuable opinion, but I do not know if someone will read or answer mem, how much competent the counterpart would be, and if I'll ever interact with him again. The new social media format has increased the availability of the material but indeed it has created a diaspora among the fanbase. Once a topic goes off trend, then it fades away in a forgotten space.Picci wrote:It's great to see a forum like this successfully riding the waves of social media. The fastlen has remained one of the few happy islands for die hard fans to discuss with a competent fan base, and this is why the merge with FMB has gone so good.

Maybe I will. You guys kick-started something, I don't know what! All I can say is 226 members have signed up in the past 12 months, quite a few of the newer guys have started posting and you've acted as ambassadors to this forum, and welcomed them, and made an effort to get them to take part. And of course I have to thank the original core of The Fastlane (or formerly, Crasherama) for the same, and for the continuing loyalty and love.
And I will rub this in...226 members in 12 months, vs. only 57 new sign-ups at TBK, of which only five have posted. After all of the negativity that came from them when we started, we are exceeding them. For the first time in years and years, far more members are joining than are leaving us. Let's keep this up, 2017 is going to be a wicked year for The Fastlane, I can feel it.

Surely we must have cracked the longest ever quote tree since our quote 'arborists' have arrived.....

In 2006, only February and March fell below 3000 posts per month. Highest: 4408 posts.MonteCristo wrote:How far behind 2008, out of interest?

In 2007, all months over 2000, two were over 3000.
In 2008, 6127 posts for January, over 4000 each for Feb and March, over 3000 for April and May, before oddly dropping to levels around what we see today.
2009 - 2010 were lean years, all months between ~1200 and ~1700 posts
2013-15 showed what lean really was. Monthly post counts down to triple figures, with little fluctuation, for almost 2 years. Can you imagine that? It's taken us three months to reach 7000 posts this year. In 2015, we didn't reach 7000 posts until September
They wouldn't dare!Everso Biggyballies wrote:Surely we must have cracked the longest ever quote tree since our quote 'arborists' have arrived.....
