BBCode for a table?

#1

Post by JBT »

Is there a way I can put up a table using BBCode? I have a post I want to make that I need to show a table in, with about 7 columns and probably 40 rows (it's currently in Excel).

Or if its easier, I could attach a screengrab of the table, but I can't find an 'attach' button anywhere (I've a feeling that I haven't posted enough times to allow that option?).

I know the easiest option is to link to a file but I don't have any way of hosting it.

Cheers for any help!

Hey JBT, may I ask what you want to post?

We don't have an attach option for anyone as we have limited space on our server, so don't worry about your post count.

If you want to upload the actual table, there are plenty of free file hosts out there. E.g. http://www.mega.co.nz or http://www.4shared.com/ or http://www.zippyshare.com/
Bear in mind people will need to own Excel in order to view it.

If you want to upload a screenshot as an image, I recommend http://tinypic.com/

Otherwise, you can use the Code tag, where you can line everything up if you count the number of characters you use for each column. E.g. For a table where each column is 12 characters wide...a five letter word requires seven spaces after it. A six letter word requires six spaces. Unfortunately you can't add colours or bold text or anything though:

Code: Select all

First Second Third
12345 123456 12345
-----1234567------123456------

Cheers for the info PT.

Its a table of cars / drivers who have carried onboard cameras during F1 TV broadcasts (Just the eighties so far). A niche within a niche!

I'll checkout uploading a pic to Tinypic, or playing with the code tag.

There's a zip file somewhere online where someone has taken a screenshot from the onboard camera of every model of F1 car. I don't think it was actually organised in any particular way though and definitely not by driver!
