Andrew Bourke was on a qualifying lap at Brands Hatch in Kent when there was a fault with his brakes as he came into a corner, and he clipped another car while driving at around 130mph. The collision sent his Alfa Romeo GTV into a violent spin – the force of which pushed his helmet out of the window. His head can be seen perilously dangling out of the vehicle as it rolls several times before slamming into the safety netting and landing on its wheels. Miraculously, Mr Bourke, from Corby in Northamptonshire, climbed out of the wreckage and walked away. He was later checked over by paramedics and given the all-clear. The incident unfolded during qualifying for a BRSCC Alfa Romeo Championship race.
