1936  ยป Deauville Grand Prix

Lehoux was trying to overtake Farina when the two collided. Both lost control, with Lehoux going off the road and being launched into the air over a sand bank, while Farina fishtailed before rolling over. Lehoux was only partially thrown from his vehicle, which crushed him as it landed back on the tarmac inflicting massive injuries which proved almost instantly fatal. Meanwhile, Farina was thrown clear and knocked unconscious. Once the crash was over the ERA went up in flames, leading many sources to claim Lehoux had died in the fire.
