The biggest incident of the evening came with 75 laps to go. Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#88) got a big run on race leader Brian Vickers (#83) going down the backstretch, and proceeded to make a move on him. Vickers blocked Dale Jr, sending Jr. below the yellow line, a move that would've garnered a penalty if Jr. had finished the pass on Vickers. Knowing this, Jr. attempted to duck back behind Vickers, but accidentally clipped the back bumper of Vickers, sending him out of control and into team-mate Scott Speed (#82). The resulting pile-up involved at least ten cars.
