A handful of drivers came onto pit road just past the halfway point of the race for their standard green flag pit stops. When Dale Jarrett (#88) exited his pit stall, he was pinned in between the exiting Mark Martin and the entering Geoff Bodine, sending Jarrett's car spinning into Jeff Burton's pit stall. Meanwhile, Burton (#99) was coming into his stall at the same time and, distracted by having to slow down to avoid hitting Jarrett, was spun himself by the exiting Derrike Cope (#30). Fortunately, no crew members were injured in the fracas.
