1986  ยป Hessen Rallye








While running in 2nd position of the 1986 ADAC Hessen Rallye, Marc Surer lost control of his Ford RS200 in a fast right hander. The car skidded of the road and crashed sideways into two trees, the car immediatly exploded into flames. Surer's co-driver, Michel Wyder from Switzerland, died immediatly while Surer was ejected from the car. Surer suffered serious injuries which needed a one-year-long recovery.

This accident, as well as the fatal accident of Henri Toivonen/Sergio Cresto and the 1986 Rally Portugal disaster led the FIA to the decision to ban Group B cars for 1987
