Marco Simoncelli lost his life during the Malaysian motorcycle Grand Prix at Sepang, held on Sunday, 23 October 2011.
Simoncelli lost control the front of his bike on the exit of turn eleven. He tried to hold on to his machine which suddenly gained grip again and veered straight into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi who had absolutely no chance to avoid Simoncelli. "Sic" was hit by both, upon impact lost his helmet and remained lying unconscious in the middle of the track.
Despite being taken to the track's medical centre immediatly, Simoncelli was announced dead at 16h56 the same day.
