Description During the night Vic Elford travelled at the banking when a tyre blew on his Martini-917. He hit the wall and then parked the car on the grass at the bottom of the track. While all this is happening Mark Donohue in his Penske/Sunoco Ferrari 512M is trying to avoid the debris when he is hit by a 911 driven by Charles Perry. Perry's car somersaulted down the banks and onto the grass hitting the Martini 917. Donohue limped back to the pits where they used massive amounts of duct tape to repair the body. This accident cost Donohue the race. Perry was send to hospital but recovered.
