In turn four on the final lap, (#55) Michael Waltrip made a move on the inside of (#14) Tony Stewart. As Stewart tried to block, he was turned sideways by Waltrip's car and spun into the pack. Waltrip just clipped (#29) Kevin Harvick's car and then hit the outside wall, collecting 25 cars in all. Stewart's car went airborne and was upside down on top of several cars, including (#5) Kasey Kahne, (#15) Clint Bowyer, and (#27) Paul Menard.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. (#88) suffered a concussion that resulted in him missing the next two races. All other drivers were unharmed.
